Ansel Adams holds a particularly iconic place in the history of both photography and national parks through his dramatic, black-and-white large-format photographs of the American wilderness, specifically Yosemite National Park. Unlike earlier masters of American landscape photography such as Carleton Watkins, Adams focused on the evanescent—moments of light and shadow, clouds billowing across the sky—instead of the immutable geography of the location. My travels to Yosemite in May of 2017 brought me on a path to recreate some of Ansel Adams most iconic photographs using the world’s most technologically advanced equipment by Phase One and …..
